We had quite a full day on Halloween. Between work, picking Lily up early for her flu-mist vaccination (who gets a vaccination on Halloween?? My kids do!!!), squeezing in a visit with my parents, early afternoon trick or treating in our neighborhood, a visit to Ms. Robin’s house (our next-door neighbor) and getting to the Nance’s on time, we were a little rushed.
The girls decided to both be Cinderella, which caused me to sigh (what about a punk rock pirate? How about a scary witch? Or a mummy? Really, you both want to be princesses???). I have to admit that it did cut down on the amount of fighting.
We had an early dinner with John and Karen while the girls ran around destroying the Nance house, and headed out for trick or treating as early as we could (the girls were peeing themselves in excitement). Unfortunately we got stuck with John and Karen’s weird, chain-smoking next door neighbor and his insane and very loud 9 year old granddaughter. Nothing like breathing in the smell of fresh air mixed with bucketloads of cigarette smoke. He groped my shoulder at one point, nearly scaring the life out of me. Well, at least someone finds me attractive enough to grope! Unfortunately it’s a nearly-mute, aging smoker with a badly behaved granddaughter.
The girls had tons of fun roaming with the neighborhood kids, pounding on doors and screaming “TRICK OR TREAT!” Most of the time they even remembered to say thank you. And amazingly, no-nap Arden only melted down once - when Mike had the audacity to impose a limit to the amount of candy they could eat when they got back to the Nance’s house.
Today is a soccer game and tonight a neighborhood Halloween party.
And oh yes - Delilah got a free pass yesterday. I was so busy getting the girls ready I forgot to stuff her in her Chicken Suit and make her trick or treat with us.

Love the slide show Homey!! Your girls are so incredibly beautiful…they are perfect little princesses! Have fun at all your stuff today!
So sweet! They put the “real” Cinderella to shame!
Sooooo cute! They both look great as princesses, maybe next year they will want to be punk rock pirates or maybe you can compromise and they can be goth princesses next year? It’s a thought!
I got a flu shot on Halloween too. BAD timing. Your princesses look very cute and girlie.
Your daughters are adorable! What a day you had. We did not go trick and treating this year because I was so tired.
I love that you even got some pics of Arden’s meltdown. LOL. The 2 of Mike and Delilah by the fire are my fave.
